Wordpress Migration Services
I can help you migrate your blogspot/blogger blog or wordpress.com blog to self hosted wordpress based site. I move all your posts, comments, authors, images and set up the new wordpress blog with all the necessary plugins and widgets. If you have any doubts, then please check the following frequently asked questions (FAQs) related to the wordpress migration service.
How will the Wordpress site look compared to the existing blogger one?
It depends upon the theme you will be using on the wordpress site. If you prefer to go with the current blogger’s theme, then I can create an exact clone for wordpress site as well, to preserve the user experience of your readers.
However, you may want to have a fresh theme to improve the overall usability of your blog by using all the features of Wordpress. I can help you in this case as well by suggesting an appropriate theme or by creating a custom theme for you.
Will you move blogger posts one by one or automatically
All the posts will be moved automatically using a PHP script.
What will be the URL of the posts after migration? Will they follow the same structure of the old posts?
Yes, the link structure will be same. If, for some reason, you prefer to change the URL structure, then it can be done but you will have some broken links in this case.
Will the migrated posts keep the same date and time as the original ones?
Yes, date, time, author information and post content will remain same.
Can you migrate the existing comments as well?
Yes, all the comments will be migrated as it is, along with the respective posts. The date and time of comments will remain intact.
What will happen to the links to our old posts on other websites? Will people be automatically redirected to the same content on the new site?
This is one of the most exciting feature of the blogger to wordpress migration service. All the back links and pingbacks from other sites or your own posts, to anypost on your blog will be served seamlessly to the exact requested content on the new location. There is no need to ask anyone to update the backlinks. Everything will work exactly like before, including the social bookmarks and tinyurls.
We host images for our blog post on Flickr or Blogger. Is it possible to transfer all the images to WordPress?
There is no need to transfer images from blogger/flickr to Wordpress. This is because your blog posts on Wordpress will be linking to the existing image locations on blogger/flickr without causing any broken links.
(At the time of writing, I am working on a Wordpress plugin that will transfer all the images from the original source to the newly created wordpress blog. I will update this page when its done, so that you have another option for hosting images)
What will be the impact of the migration on our authority in sites like Technorati?
There will be no impact. Your Technorati authority will remain same. In fact, it may improve with time if you start using Wordpress’ SEO plugins properly.
What will happen to our stats with Sitemeter and Google Analytics?
They will remain as it is.
What will be the effect of migration on our Google pagerank and search engine positioning?
There will be no effect. Although you’ll have to wait for the next pagerank update (which normally happens after every 2-3 months) to get the pagerank back.
What is your testing process once the project is completed?
After the migration, I use Google search, Bing search, Yahoo search, Technorati search etc. to test if everything is working fine. I also test the linking structure using shell scripts and Wordpress plugins to make sure that there are no broken links.
Do you offer bug support and maintenance of the new site?
Generally, if there is a bug, its found during the testing phase. However, you’ll get one year support in case you find any bug related to migration at a later stage.
